The first guitar I bought was a Taylor! Still play it all the time. What a magnificent specimen! It sounds so bright and clean. I love it. Since I did not purchase it with a pickup, I use the guitar mostly to write, rather than perform, my original songs. Despite my appreciation for this sonic work of art, I appreciate how Taylor is exploring new possibilities and trying to responsibly harvest black ebony for the fretboards and tops of its guitars (without diminishing their sound), even going so far as to plant trees for future generations of Taylor instruments. The cynic in me is of course skeptical about the possible environmental costs associated with Taylor's policies. (Indeed, no policy is perfect.) However, I also recognize it's not easy being a company in today's political climate where every policy has ramifications and everyone can (and usually wants to) disparage the efforts of others. At least theoretically, the officers at Taylor are trying to do the right thing and should be supported in these endeavors.
